St Patrick's Day!

Yup, it's official...I'm pretty bad at this blogging thing.  I doubt waiting months/years between posts is what it's intended for.  But I keep trying anyway. With St. Patrick's day coming up, and my baby's 2nd birthday I thought I would share some of last year's party.  Especially - 'How I made a leprechaun cake'!
But first, the cupcakes. A little too orange on the skin coloring but they turned out so cute I got over it!

For the 1st Birthday Party I went all out St. Patrick's Day theme (and will probably continue to do so for as long as I can - I can't resist a built in theme).  I used the Wilton 3D bear pan for the leprechaun and 2 sizes of brownie pans for the 'hill' he sat on.  Pound cake works best for the bear. After everything was stacked I very carefully removed (and if I remember correctly ate) the eyes, nose, mouth and ears.
To make things easy I used tip 18 to decorate most of the leprechaun and 'hill'.
An overfilled cupcake made the perfect hat - attached upside down with a skewer.
The hat removed very easily and worked out perfectly as the smash cake.
Some gold coins for fun and he is all done!

Added lots of sorted rainbow candy (and fruit). As many green decorations as I could find and create.  But in the end it was a beautiful day so all of my hard work decorating every room of the house with leprechauns, balloons, banners and shamrocks was mostly missed for the fire and playground outside.

I hope someone finds something here useful for their own St. Patrick's day party! Oh my goodness I almost forgot the best part - the adult 'green' drink was this amazing green sangria recipe I found here. It was gone within an hour of everyone arriving!  I wish I had a picture of it but it was gone before I was settled enough to start capturing everything.

(Hm, that wasn't too hard maybe I'll be back before next year to share some more! Thanks for being patient and coming back.)
